In today’s English lesson three pupils had a presentation. Kristina presented Telephones, Primož presented Mobile phones and Ajda presented her life. We enjoyed the presentations and learned lots of new things. After the teacher graded the three presentations we talked about Christmas and the New Year. We had to write down our new year’s resolutions and when the year 2013 ends we will check if we completed them all. I hope you’ll complete as many as possible. Katarina 9.a

I'm going to write something about Art on Wednesday, 12/12/2012. First we stood up and said “Hello!” to the teacher. Then she told us the grades that we got for drawing a hayrack. Everybody got a good mark. After that she gave us the pictures of ourselves and we started a new work. It’s complicated but if you work slowly and accurate, your picture will be good. We were working on this picture for 2 school hours but some of us still didn’t finish it so we’re going to continue work at the next our of Art. Hana Vučko, 9.a/2.skupina

We had two hours of Slovene. In the first hour we talked about careers and secondary schools of which we are thinking. Each of us had to say what he wants to become in the future. We also discussed where our brothers and sisters went. In the second hour, we took a new subject. We had a lot of homework, but we completed it all. Ajda, 9.b

Today's English class started at 9.35. A couple of my classmates (Ana, Martin, Nejc and Mateo) were very nervous because of their presentations. Mateo was the first one. He introduced us to NCIS, a popular TV series. To be honest, I didn't listen to him that much. The English teacher asked me to write the meaning of the verb 'finish off' on the blackboard. I had to look for the definition into two dictionaries, but the definitions were quite easy to find. I also wrote definitions of the separate words (finish, off) on the blackboard and wrote a sentence using that verb. Although I was quite busy with doing that, I still noticed my classmates were giggling and enjoying Mateo's presentation. He got an A and was very pleased with himself. Martin's presentation was about basketball. He described the rules of basketball, the tasks of a certain player and some basic rules. He also told us something about the history of this sport, the NBA, his favourite teams and the best basketall players of all times. He got an A as well. Martin's presentation was very long, so Ana's presentation about scouts was prolonged into the break. Ana had a bit of trouble with remembering the text and was estimated with the grade C. I liked today's class, I have learnt a lot of new things about scouts and basketball and I have even learnt a definition of a new verb. Yay! Veronika, 9.a

Today we tested our knowledge of English with an experimental test. The last ten minutes of the hour we checked our answers. It wasn’t that hard and now we know what we have to practice a bit more before the real test. Katarina, class 9a

We began our lesson with greeting. Then we started to check exercises in our wordbooks that we have for homework. When a student from the other class brings a class record book our teacher said that she will grading. She gave us solutions and we had to check our homework by ourselves. After that we had to copy exercises for the test from the smart board and do them. We write English exam next week so for homework we had to study for this test. Klara, class 9, group 2

Today, we were talking about mindset entitled America that we have in the textbook on page 23 at English classes. We talked about the words and explained them. Later we were in the textbook on the same page to read the text about America. For homework we got tasks 3a and 4 in the textbook. The teacher announced questioning on Friday. A few minutes before the end, we got two tickets. At first they were written English words. The second one was a table in which they were written words in Slovenian. With the help of the dictionary words from the first sheet were submitted in the appropriate boxes. Anja, 9. b, group 1

Monday, October 15, 2012

Monday, October 15, 2012 Today's English class started at 12.10. First we checked our homework. For homework we had to read a text about the life and habits of a Native American and sort the verbs in the text by tenses (Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple and Present Perfect). Each student read the verbs, which were in the same tense. Our teacher told us to do the 'pattern practice' on pages 20 and 21 in our books (we had to do it in pairs). We had to make dialogues, it was a revision of the Present Perfect tense. This could be very boring, but after every 3 to 5 minutes, the student, sitting on the left side of the desk, had to move a chair behind and continue making dialogues with his new partner. We then repeated the same thing, but this time with students, sitting on the right side of the desk. I had a lot of fun doing this exercise, I think the idea behind it is very fresh and interesting. The bell rang at 12.55, which meant that the class was over. A SPECIAL NOTE FOR MY CLASSMATES: Don't forget to do the exercise 3 in your books, page 20. There are also exercises 24, 25, 26 and 27 in your workbooks waiting for you! Veronika Hanc, 9.a

Native American Indians I was quite excited for Wednesday's English lesson because we all knew that we are going to have a short quiz about the Native Americans. Most of my classmates have heard about the Indians before; maybe from History class, movies (everyone knows Pocahontas, right?) or interesting books. Our English teacher gave us a long, but a really fascinating text and put us to groups of 4 and each of the group had to make-up different kinds of questions from the text on a piece of paper. For example: What did the Native Americans in the 20th century suffer from? a) Music b) Poverty c) John Lennon After we finished, we changed our papers with other groups and answered their questions. Miss Oroz asked us to read the text once more and then we had a quick quiz. Unfortunately my group didn’t win. We weren’t too sad about it. The winners (of course) won some pretty marbles form Mercator - the ones with mammoths and weird-looking squirrels on it. Živa Hanc, 9.a

Tuesday, October 9,2012

On Tuesday, 9/10/2012 at English lesson, we worked in groups. Ms Oroz put us in groups. We got worksheets. Before solving them we needed to read the text about Native Americans. When we read it, we wrote questions on the worksheet. When we all wrote the questions, we changed the sheets with other groups and solved their questions. The time passed quickly because the work was fun! Kristina, class 8

Our English lesson today started as usual: our teacher came in class and we all stood up, said »Good morning!« and sat down. She told us that we will do a group exercise today so she put us in groups of 3 and 4. I was in group with Anže and Luka. We all had to do the same thing: we had to read the text and then make questions about it. We were done pretty fast so we changed the sheet with another group and tried to answer all of their questions. We had to change the sheet with every group until we had all the answers. Today our group almost finished everything so we will continue with answering the questions on Wednesday. And that is what our English lesson was like today. Domen, 9.b

Friday, September 21

Today we got our first test papers back. Some students were happy and some a little disappointed. We checked what we did wrong and then we started reading the story from Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America. The story was interesting and we learned something new. We answered the questions and listened to the story again so we would know how to pronounce the word in the story. The bell rang and the lesson was over. Our homework was to learn the story with the help of the diagram in the textbook. Katarina, 9.a
